Better schools for North West Norfolk

Giving children the best opportunity to succeed through high quality education is a key focus of James'. On his regular schools visits, James speaks to teachers and pupils and then take issues they raise with back to ministers.

Doing so, he has helped influence changes to support children, for instance, £2 billion extra funding and reforms to Special Educational Needs, including speech language.

James has visited over 40 local schools so far as part of his focus on helping children get the best chance to succeed. During the visits he ask teachers about their approach to reading, attendance, and other issues as well as talking to pupils about his role as a MP and encouraging schools to visit Parliament's Education Centre.

James has also worked with the College of West Anglia (CWA) to secure funding for the new School of Nursing Studies and to make the case for further and higher education to support their important contribution to skills and learning.

In a boost for West Norfolk students, Smithdon High School in Hunstanton was included in the school rebuilding programme after James worked closely with the school to make the case for investment. This will help the school to deliver better facilities for pupils in Hunstanton to learn and realise their potential. James also supported KES' successful bid under the programme.
