£400 million to support towns

Budget announces King’s Lynn will benefit from £20 million Long Term Plan for Towns

In the Budget, the Chancellor has announced that King’s Lynn has been selected to join the government’s Long Term Plan for Towns benefiting from up to £20 million in funding.

Each town will receive a 10-year endowment-style fund with £20 million of funding and support to give towns long term certainty to deliver projects over multiple years and the flexibility to invest.

King’s Lynn’s Town Board will be required to develop a 10-year Long-Term Plan, setting out the town’s vision and priorities for investment and regeneration, aligned to themes of safety and security, high streets, heritage and regeneration, and transport and connectivity. The plans will be developed in consultation with local people.

Commenting on the announcement James Wild MP said:

“This welcome long term investment is a further commitment by this government to create more opportunities in Lynn and boost our area. Local people will be able to shape the plans and priorities whether they may be to enhance the public realm at Baxter’s Plain, improve the West Lynn ferry links, or other ideas to support high streets, sports, heritage or regeneration.

Coming on top of £50 million of regeneration funding secured through the Town Deal and Levelling Up Fund these are exciting times for West Norfolk.”
