April’s update on the New Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn showcases important progress on enabling works for the Multi-Storey Car Park (MSCP) - the key enabling project to free up the existing car park where the new hospital will be built.
This month sees construction of a new bus stop at the hospital coming closer to completion. The concrete for the new bus terminal has now been poured, and contractors are moving on to creating new footpaths, lighting, shelters, benches, and signposts. The new terminal is expected to open in May.
The Multi-Storey Car Park is expected to begin construction shortly after the bus stop is in operation. Starting work in June 2026, the MSCP will be a critical feature of the new QEH. It is planned to feature 1,335 parking spaces, Automatic Number Plate Recognition, and a dedicated secure staff parking area. These features will increase ease of access to the hospital for both visitors and staff.
James Wild commented on the updated:
“It’s welcome news works are progressing as planned and that the next stages for the multi-storey car park and new QEH are still on track for June. Delivering a new hospital remains my top priority, along with securing improvements in patient care.”
