With the new bus stop at the existing QEH opening for operation this week the final barrier to the multi-story car park (MSCP) has been removed. Works on the new MSCP are expected to start this summer.
The full business case for a new multi-storey car park at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn has now been approved by the Joint Investment Committee of the Department of Health and Social Care and NHS England. This final approval means the project can now move into the construction phase.
The new six-storey car park will provide 1,335 spaces and free up the current main car park site so construction of the new hospital can begin. It has been designed to meet future needs, with larger spaces, improved traffic flow and modern technology including Automatic Number Plate Recognition.
James Wild MP commented:
“This latest step is another important stage in delivering the modern, state-of-the-art hospital that patients, staff and the wider North West Norfolk community deserve. It’s great to see continued progress in turning campaigns and plans into reality.
I will continue working with ministers, hospital leaders and local partners to support the delivery of this vital project for King’s Lynn and North West Norfolk.”
