James Wild MP has welcomed the approval of the Outline Business Case for Queen Elizabeth Hospital's (QEH) new multi-storey car park by the New Hospital Programme’s Investment Committee. This is an important step in the plans for a new QEH.
Since being elected, James has been campaigning for a new QEH. He has challenged the government over the potential delay in opening a new QEH until 2032/3 and urged them to go faster and stick to the 2030 opening timeline agreed by the previous government.
There are three approval stages for business cases and approval of the Outline Business Case now means QEH can prepare and submit the Final Business case.
Commenting on the approval, James Wild MP said:
"Two weeks ago, I met the Health Minister with QEH to urge the government to approve the plans for the multi-storey car park so this is a positive step forward.
"Now I hope to see the final stage approved as soon as possible to allow work on this key enabling project to start later this year.
"I'll keep campaigning to stick to 2030 for a new hospital as planned by the last government."
