James Wild MP has welcomed the announcement of a significant £387,000 transformation of King's Lynn bus station, set to begin on February 10, 2025.
The project, which is part of Norfolk County Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), will enhance the bus station by installing new, reinforced concrete bases for bus standings, real-time passenger information screens, and updated bus stop flags, all aimed at improving the overall experience for users.
The 14-week project, funded by the Department for Transport (DfT) as part of the £50 million BSIP agreed with the previous government, will complement a series of broader initiatives aimed at improving our regional connectivity. This comes on top of recent successes such as extending the 3H Town Link service hours and the introduction of the £1.50 flat fare scheme, both of which have been key in making public transport more affordable and accessible for local residents.
With boosting local infrastructure a key part of his Plan for North West Norfolk, these upgrades mark an significant milestone in James’ ongoing campaign to improve transport links across the constituency. Looking ahead, he remains committed to supporting further improvements, including pressing operators to maximise the use of BSIP funds for fare reductions and service expansions, as well as advocating for later evening bus services to support shift workers.
