James Wild MP has welcomed changes to local bus services that will come into effect from Sunday 20th April 2025, delivering later journeys and adjustments to help improve reliability for passengers across North West Norfolk.
The new timetable includes later services on some of the most popular routes between King’s Lynn and surrounding towns and villages, as well as revisions to improve punctuality in response to increasing traffic congestion, particularly at peak times.
Key changes include:
- Services 34/35/36 (King’s Lynn to Hunstanton) – A new later journey on Service 34 will run Mondays to Saturdays from King’s Lynn at 2110hrs, returning from Hunstanton at 2205hrs. Additional timetable adjustments have also been made to improve reliability.
- Coastliner 36 – New later journeys between King’s Lynn and Wells-next-the-Sea on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays throughout the summer months.
- Service 42 (King’s Lynn to Fairstead) – New later evening services at 2030 and 2100hrs Mondays to Saturdays.
- Service 48/49/49A (King’s Lynn to Fakenham) – A new later 1900hrs service from Fakenham to King’s Lynn has been introduced, along with revised morning journeys to help buses stay on time through Gaywood and into King’s Lynn.
Other services such as 33A, 38, 43, and 414/5 will see minor changes to routes and timings to support punctuality. The morning school journey on service 408 will now be included within the revised service 34 timetable.
Many of these improvements have been made possible thanks to funding from the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP). Introduced by the previous government, the BSIP included a £50 million commitment to support community bus services across Norfolk, helping to maintain and enhance local transport links.
James Wild MP said:
“Reliable public transport is vital for people across North West Norfolk, particularly in rural and coastal areas. I welcome these improvements which will offer greater flexibility and help ensure buses run on time, even as traffic congestion increases.
I will continue to work with local operators and Norfolk County Council to support better services for passengers.”
