Drawing on his North West Norfolk constituency, where seventy pubs and four breweries generate 2,300 jobs and £53 million, he expressed concern over rising alcohol duties and national insurance costs. With beer duty now twelve times higher than in many European countries and pints averaging over £5, James warned these pressures risk forcing many businesses to close without urgent government support.
