Michelle Arrowsmith, Executive Managing Director at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, has stepped down after only six months in post.
She will be temporarily replaced by Jo Segasby, Deputy Chief Executive and Group Chief Delivery Officer of Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group NHS Trust.
James commented on the announcement:
“Following the announcement, I urgently met the Chair of Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group and Jo Segasby who is now in charge of running QEH. I expressed my concern at a further change at the executive level and underlined the importance of having continuity of visible leadership.
I was assured the new arrangements are intended to bring renewed focus on delivering improvements in care, including driving changes to respond to CQC reports and the Royal College of Surgeon’s worrying general surgery review. I will continue to meet and raise issues regularly with the Trust on behalf of constituents and staff to ensure progress is made.
My priority remains ensuring patients get better care, that QEH staff are supported to deliver improvements, and making progress on the new hospital for our community.”
