As Shadow Treasury Minister, James led the opposition to the government’s Finance Bill which implements measures in the Budget.
He put forward amendments for an assessment of when pensioners could have to pay income tax on the state pension if threshold remain frozen, opposing the government’s Education Tax on independent school fees, highlighting damaging impact of energy profits levy, and impact on households of government’s tax increases.
