On 14th April, James Wild MP met with Alice Webster, Chief Executive of Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), after £1bn to £1.5bn in available funding was confirmed for a new hospital. This funding will enable QEH to construct a facility tailored to the needs of the local population.

They discussed next steps, including the multi-storey car park, which is set to begin construction in early 2026 enabling the new hospital to be built on the current car park. Work on the main hospital is set to start in 2027-2028.

With this welcome news, James is committed to continue working closely with the Trust and ministers to deliver the hospital the community needs.
