Commenting on the latest Care Quality Commission Report, James Wild MP said:
“The CQC's report set out very concerning findings that patients are not receiving the level of care at QEH they deserve and worryingly there has been a decline in safety and quality across urgent and emergency care and medical care. It also raises questions about the adequacy of staffing levels and the impact of delays in treating and responding to patients. This puts pressure on staff who want to provide compassionate care.
“The CQC findings reflect issues that I regularly take up on behalf of constituents as when things go wrong too often complaints are not responded to rapidly enough.
“Coming after other CQC and the Royal College of Surgeons reports which also identified serious failings, it is now essential for QEH and the Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group to take decisive action to address these findings and deliver the sustained improvements patients rightly expect. The current situation is not acceptable.
“Improvements require strong, visible, and consistent leadership and I will continue to support QEH staff and hold the NHS leadership accountable for performance.”
