James Wild MP has pressed the Health Secretary on what further support will be provided to the QEH in King’s Lynn to help sustain increased activity aimed at cutting waiting times.
Speaking during Health questions in the House of Commons, James highlighted that the QEH is now part of the National Provider Improvement Programme, which provides additional support to improve performance, at a time when too many local patients are still waiting too long for treatment.
He pointed to the hospital’s recent elective sprint and asked what support would be made available to help maintain that momentum in the months ahead.
James Wild MP said:
“At the Queen Elizabeth hospital in King’s Lynn, nearly half of patients are waiting more than 18 weeks from referral to treatment and the trust is now part of the national improvement programme. Last month’s elective sprint delivered 2,000 additional elective activities, with evening and weekend working.
“Will the Health Secretary ensure that additional support is provided so that increased level of activity continues in the months to come?”
This follows James’s recent meeting with the QEH’s new Executive Managing Director, Michelle Arrowsmith, during which they discussed action to cut waiting times and wider hospital performance issues.
