James Wild MP joined Ukrainian families and the local community in King’s Lynn to mark Ukrainian Independence Day with a celebration in the Tuesday Market Place.
Supported by Stories of Lynn, the event featured Ukrainian crafts, folk dancing, traditional food and drinks, and live music from Igor Grohotsky, winner of The Voice of Ukraine 2014.
Visitors also took part in activities such as friendship bracelet-making, face painting, and exploring Ukrainian trinkets, while the event highlighted the borough’s historic trading links across northern Europe and provided an opportunity for the community to show support for Ukraine.
James spent time with Mykola and Nataliya, who came to the UK as part of the Homes for Ukraine schem. Having assisted the family personally, he took the opportunity to catch up with them and hear about the latest in their lives in Norfolk.
James Wild MP said:
“It was a pleasure to join Mykola, Nataliya, and their family for Ukraine Independence Day in Lynn. Events like this provide an opportunity to celebrate Ukrainian culture, strengthen community connections, and acknowledge the contributions of families who have settled in Norfolk. It is important that we continue to offer support and stand with Ukraine.”
