James Wild MP joined Radio West Norfolk with host Simon Rowe to highlight his 2026 London Marathon bid to raise vital funds and awareness for the 8:56 Foundation’s mission to support men’s mental health across Norfolk.
Founded in memory of Lee Calton, the 8:56 Foundation was created in response to the rising and often hidden crisis in men’s mental health. Across the region, more men are struggling with loneliness, silence, and a lack of accessible support. The Foundation exists to change that - raising awareness, increasing the visibility of help available, and challenging the stigma that still prevents many men from speaking openly about their mental wellbeing.
Through sport‑based community programmes, wellbeing initiatives, and accessible talking therapy, the Foundation works to create safe spaces where men feel able to talk, connect, and seek support before reaching crisis point. Demand for these services continues to grow, highlighting the urgent need for sustainable funding and wider awareness.
To donate visit www.justgiving.com/page/jameswildmp and funds raised by James will directly support the Foundation’s Talking Therapy programme. Every £35 donated pays for a full therapy session, enabling someone to access timely, specialist support at a moment when it matters most.
