James Wild MP joined BBC Radio Norfolk’s Breakfast programme to speak about his opposition to proposed large-scale solar developments on farmland in Norfolk and the Conservatives’ plans to use domestic North Sea oil and gas to strengthen energy security and help lower bills.
James highlighted his work with local residents, including Castle Acre Parish Council, to oppose proposed solar schemes such as Droves and High Grove. He warned that together the developments would cover around 6,700 acres and risk industrialising Norfolk’s agricultural and heritage land, while making clear that he supports solar in more appropriate locations such as brownfield sites and rooftops.
Discussion then turned to Conservative plans to back domestic oil and gas production in the North Sea to support jobs, improve energy security, and generate tax revenues.
He also set out the Conservatives’ plans to back younger people and support businesses.
