James Wild MP is encouraging community groups, charities, and organisations in North West Norfolk to apply for the latest round of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding, which is now open until 1 February 2025.

CIL funding, generated from a levy on local development, supports projects that enhance infrastructure and improve community assets.

Previous funding rounds have made a significant impact across the Borough, with over £1.3 million allocated last year to 39 projects, ranging from recreational facilities to environmental initiatives. Across North West Norfolk this has included a new coastal trail path in Brancaster and the resurfacing of both Gayton Church, and West Winch Parish Council carparks.

James has been an active advocate for community projects, having already supported several successful CIL bids in Thornham, Snettisham, and Brancaster. These included assisting in the application for funding to extend Thornham’s play area and construct a new sports pavilion, £30,000 for Snettisham Beach Sailing Club to improve energy efficiency through a new roof and solar panels, and £25,000 for a modern replacement of Brancaster’s National Coastwatch station.

These projects have brought, and will continue to bring, lasting benefits to residents and the wider community. With regeneration an integral part of his Plan for the constituency, James welcomes the initiative, and encourages groups to set forth projects of their own for application.

Commenting on the new round of applications, James Wild MP said:

“CIL funding is a vital tool for delivering projects that make a real difference in our communities, whether through enhancing public spaces, supporting recreational facilities, or addressing environmental challenges.

I am pleased to have been able to assist several local projects so far, and I strongly encourage local groups with eligible projects to apply for this funding and help bring further improvements to North West Norfolk.”

Applications for CIL funding must be submitted by 1 February 2025. For more information and guidance on how to apply, you can visit https://www.west-norfolk.gov.uk/cil-applications.
