As part of his ongoing support for local enterprise, James Wild MP visited Smartlift Bulk Packaging in Terrington St Clement to congratulate the team on winning the “Small Business of the Year” award at the recent Mayoral Awards, meet staff, and learn more about their operations.
Welcomed by owner Trevor Bland, James toured the company’s facilities and discussed Smartlift’s bespoke heavy-duty packaging products, including builder bags, pallet covers, and sandbags, supplied to a variety of different industries from construction and agriculture, to chemicals and food processing.
The visit included discussions on key issues such as the UK’s new Free Trade Deal with India, and Smartlift’s achievement of full carbon neutrality through its commitment to recycling under Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).
James also gained insight into the company’s growth and innovation, as well as challenges around global logistics and shifting market demands. Smartlift’s forward-looking strategy has established it as a sector leader and valued local employer.
Commenting after the visit, James Wild MP said:
“Smartlift’s well-deserved recognition as ‘Small Business of the Year’ is a great example of the ambition and innovation found in West Norfolk. It was impressive to see how the team is combining high-quality manufacturing with a strong commitment to sustainability and making the most of new trade opportunities. I’ll continue to support local businesses like Smartlift that are creating jobs, growing sustainably, and contributing to our local economy.”
