James Wild MP recently met the National Trust to discuss the restoration of the Tower Windmill at Burnham Overy Staithe, an iconic Norfolk landmark.
The National Trust is planning to undertake a phased restoration, starting with the removal of the fanstage platform followed by essential work to address water damage and restoration of the sails.
James raised constituents' concerns, stressing the need for a clear timeline and commitment to reinstating the sails following restoration as well as continued community engagement throughout the process.
James Wild MP said:
“Tower windmill is an iconic North Norfolk landmark and I met the National Trust to raise constituents’ concerns about the state of the building and plans to restore it.
“Having spoken to local people and the local councillor, I underlined the importance of a clear timeline for the works and a firm commitment to reinstate the sails while accepting specialist work is involved in their assessment and restoration. “
“The National Trust assured me they understand the importance to the local community and recognise the need to engage on the plans. I’ll continue to work to ensure local views are heard.”
