James Wild MP speaks in the House of Commons on the Government's recent cuts to Winter Fuel Payment cuts. James Wild MP said:

"Thank you Mr Speaker. The Government says it wants everyone eligible for Pension Credit to claim it and get it but as the Social Security Advisory Committee points out they're expecting only 5% increase in uptake of people. Is it the reality that the Government needs hundreds of thousands of pensioners to not claim this entitlement which they deserve in order to make their figures add up and to cut £1.4 billion from winter fuel payments?"

Emma Reynolds MP, Minister for Pensions, said:

"I would be very pleased if all pensioners who are eligible for Pension Credit applied and received the the help that they deserve."
