James Wild MP visited Wootton Pharmacy on St. Augustine’s Way in South Wootton to mark its opening and welcome the return of an important local healthcare service for the community, with the pharmacy now operating as a new business under new ownership and management.
During the visit, James met owner and pharmacist Endrit Basha, along with dispensers Genta and Erjon, and toured the new facility to hear about the services it will offer residents.
He saw first-hand the healthcare support available – including having his blood pressure checked – before discussing plans to provide accessible, high‑quality care, such as a home delivery service for customers.
The pharmacy will offer the NHS Pharmacy First scheme, enabling patients to receive treatment for seven common conditions, including earache, sore throat, and urinary tract infections, directly from a pharmacist without needing a GP appointment or prescription.
Speaking after his visit, James Wild MP said:
“It was a pleasure to mark the opening of Wootton Pharmacy and to wish them every success as they begin serving the community.
“Community pharmacies are a valued and trusted part of local communities and help people get quicker, more convenient care close to home. I am pleased South Wootton once again has that service on its doorstep and I encourage residents to make full use of the services available and to support the team.”
Owner and pharmacist, Endrit Basha, said:
“Wootton Pharmacy is delighted to announce its official opening and is proud to become part of the local community. The pharmacy’s vision is to deliver accessible, patient‑centred care, supported by expert advice and a comprehensive range of services designed to promote health and wellbeing. These include Pharmacy First, blood pressure checks, contraception services, and seasonal vaccinations.
“We are committed to making healthcare simpler and more accessible. Wootton Pharmacy aims to provide personalised care tailored to the needs of every patient.
“The opening was marked by a special visit from James Wild MP, who joined the team to celebrate this important milestone. His visit highlighted the vital role community pharmacies play in delivering frontline healthcare and supporting local communities.”
James had previously raised concerns in Parliament after the previous operator, Jhoots Pharmacy, left staff unpaid and patients unable to access essential medication, making the opening of Wootton Pharmacy a welcome restoration of services for the community.
