James Wild MP attended the opening of King's Lynn's long-awaited new library at 46 New Conduit Street, as a years-in-the-making £17 million investment finally became a reality for the town.
The new facility transforms the former Argos building and multi-storey carpark into a community hub delivered through a partnership between Norfolk County Council and the King's Lynn Neighbourhood Board, featuring dedicated areas for children and young people, expanded quiet study spaces, a business library, and a new home for the town's historical collection.
The £17 million project has been funded through the £25 million Town Deal secured with the previous Conservative Government and Norfolk County Council. James has championed the project through his role on the Neighbourhood Board and attended a preview ahead of the public opening.
James Wild MP said:
"This is a very exciting day for King's Lynn as our new library opens its doors. The £17 million investment made possible by the last Conservative Government's Town Deal and Norfolk County Council is a real statement of ambition for our town.
"A modern, accessible library right in the heart of the high street will inspire young people, create new opportunities for learning and skills, and give residents and businesses even more reason to come into the town centre.
"I'm delighted to have supported this project from the outset and to see it ready to serve the community."
