On Friday 4th July, James Wild MP joined the local community to officially launch the Art in the Yard, summer exhibition at True’s Yard Fisherfolk Museum, celebrating the work of local artists and the rich heritage of King’s Lynn’s North End.
The exhibition, now in its fifth year, showcases a range of artistic styles from individuals connected to the museum and the local area. Under the theme Art is for all, the exhibition invites the public to enjoy a broad and inclusive collection reflecting community, creativity, and identity.
James was welcomed to the museum by Dr Paul Richards, Chairman of the Friends of True’s Yard, before giving a short speech in which he praised the museum’s role in preserving the stories and spirit of the town’s fishing community.
Speaking after the event, James said:
“True’s Yard stands as a tribute to the hardworking families of the North End and our fishing heritage, preserving not just buildings and artifacts, but stories and spirit, and this exhibition supports that.
It’s a pleasure to celebrate the creativity and community spirit on display here. I hope many people will come and be inspired by the works on show.”
After opening the exhibition, James met with artists Jon Harris and Alan Castleton, who guided him through the collection and shared insights into their work.
Organised by Lindsay and the True’s Yard team, Art in the Yard sits alongside a growing local arts scene including the Chequers Gallery, the Greyfriars at the Custom House, and Groundworks.
