During question time in the House of Commons, James Wild MP called on the Transport Secretary to reaffirm her support for the A10 West Winch Housing Access Road following concerns raised over its approval by the Roads Minister upon her recent visit to Norfolk.
The A10 West Winch Housing Access Road is a key component of the West Winch Growth Area, which aims to deliver up to 4,000 new homes over the next two decades. The project has been assessed as "high value for money" and is expected to reduce congestion on the A10 while connecting the area to the A47.
As a project that has long been a part of the Local Plan for King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, James has consistently campaigned for this important infrastructure upgrade working closely with Norfolk County Council and the borough council to push the project forward.
Speaking in the House of Commons, James said:
“When the Roads Minister came to Norfolk recently, she was reported to have cast doubt over the approval of the A10 West Winch housing access road, which is essential to unlock thousands of homes and economic growth.
Without the road, the homes will not be built. Given the Government’s commitment to house building, will the Transport Secretary reaffirm her support for this long-standing road scheme?”
In response, the Transport Minister, Lilian Greenwood MP, said:
“I was pleased to find myself in Norfolk announcing huge amounts of investment in the region’s roads. There are a large number of schemes awaiting the outcome of the spending review, but I would be happy to write to the hon. Gentleman about the specific scheme that he raises.”
