Speaking at Prime Minister’s Questions, James Wild MP raised the tragic case of a constituent whose mother, sister and stepfather were killed in a fatal crash on the A47 near King’s Lynn, urging Sir Keir Starmer to intervene to do what he can to prevent the early removal of the offender responsible.
James highlighted that the driver was sentenced to 10 and a half years in prison for three counts of causing death by the dangerous driving. However, the family contacted James as they have just been told he may now be released imminently in order to be deported, having served only three years.
Speaking during Prime Minister’s Questions, James Wild MP said:
“My constituent’s mum, sister and stepfather were killed in a horrific dangerous driving crime for which a foreign national offender was sentenced to 10 and a half years.
“However, the family have just been told that he may be released imminently in order to be deported, having served just three years. Will the Prime Minister look at the case and what steps can be taken to prevent that release? Such a pitiful time served -three years for three lives - would be the final insult and undermine public confidence in our justice system.”
In response, the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer said:
“I thank the hon. Gentleman for raising what is obviously a terrible case. If he provides further details, I will ensure that it is looked into as quickly as possible.”
