James Wild MP is encouraging residents and businesses across North West Norfolk to pledge to pick at least one bag of litter as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s 10th Great British Spring Clean, voicing his support and praise for the constituents who are set to join the effort during the charity’s annual campaign.
Keep Britain Tidy’s 10th Great British Spring Clean, running from 21 March to 6 April this year, will encourage individuals, community groups, schools, businesses, and local councils to make a difference to the environment on our doorstep.
With protecting the environment part of his Plan for the constituency, James is pleased to back the charity’s call for the public to pledge on its website to pick one or more bags of litter from streets, parks, beaches, and nature reserves, in a bid to protect both our vibrant communities and precious wildlife habitats.
As an annual supporter of the campaign, James has previously launched a litter survey to identify problem areas and encourage community-led clean-ups across North West Norfolk. He has also since worked closely with local authorities, local land owners, and conservationists to address issues of litter and environmental protection.
This year, beach cleans are already planned including for Old Hunstanton on Sunday 9th March and Sunday 27th April, and on South Beach in Heacham on Saturday 29th March - offering perfect opportunities for people to get involved and help care for our coastline.
James Wild MP said:
“Keeping our roads, parks, countryside, and beaches clean is something we can all contribute to. This campaign is a great way to bring people together, take pride in our community, and protect our local environment.”
The charity reports that last year 97% of participants in the Great British Spring Clean agreed they felt they had made a difference to their local area, and 84% agreed they felt more pride for their local area.
Keep Britain Tidy’s Chief Executive, Allison Ogden-Newton OBE, said:
“We are so grateful for the support from James Wild MP and his constituents in North West Norfolk.
“The Great British Spring Clean is a fantastic way for people to really show their pride in where they live and connect with like-minded neighbours, while taking serious and immediate action to protect the environment on their doorstep.
“During this year’s campaign, we are highlighting that the environment belongs to everyone, and that everyone is welcome to join in with our activities and celebrate the 10th Great British Spring Clean.”
