Bid's now open for Lynn's library

Bid’s are now open to find a new use for Lynn’s library, with the application window open between the 24 July to 20 October. Interviews with shortlisted applicants are expected in late November to early December and a decision is expected to be made in January next year.

Norfolk County Council is looking for an individual or group to manage the historic library for community use, located on London Road, and have a realistic plan of delivery. Norfolk County Council are now accepting applications from interested groups.

The building has operated as a library since opening in 1905, as part of many Carnegie libraries worldwide, with library facilities re-housed in the previous Argos premises from autumn 2025 as part of £25 million Town Deal. The relocated library will offer new, modern library facilities with more books on display.

The council are committed to the building being used for the benefit of the local community and to meet the needs of Lynn whilst keeping historic details of the library.

The successful bidder will be responsible for the overall management of the building, will need to provide a business plan demonstrating an understanding of cost associated with the management of the building and sustainability of proposal. Bidders will also need to provide details of how they will continue to ensure the building will be used for the benefit of the community.

To find out more information and to access an information and application pack, please email the County Council’s community team on [email protected]

James Wild MP Weekly Column on post Brexit European negotiations

Thursday, 22 May, 2025
After a lack of transparency about its plans, this week the government agreed a deal with the EU. I can almost hear the collective groan about reopening discussions about Brexit and I have no intention of going over old ground.
