Safer streets and more police

In Parliament, James has backed higher funding for Norfolk Police to put more police on the streets and 269 extra officers were recruited under the previous Conservative government. 

He meets regularly with Norfolk Police to raise constituents issues and concerns, be briefed on operational challenges, and joins officers on the beat including in Lynn and Hunstanton.

James has pressed for tougher sentences for driving and other serious offences and supports a greater focus on rural crimes, including fly tipping and equipment theft.

In the year ending September 2025, the crime rate in King's Lynn & West Norfolk was lower than average for the Norfolk area
